Rain, Rain, Go Away !

When they say the PNW (Pacific Northwest) is rainy, they don't mean it's wet most of the time, rather, it's a never-ending onslaught, at least January through April. Wintering in a RV in Sultan is not for the faint of heart - not because the campground wasn't nice (it was) or because the area isn't beautiful (it was, as well), it's because we (maybe just me?) weren't properly adapting to the wet climate in the area.
We had just arrived after spending Fall/early Winter in Tucson, Arizona with that amazing, consistent, arid warmth that they are famous for. Sultan, located at the eastern base of the Cascade Mountain Range, was a convergence zone of descending cloud cover and oceanic breezes. It was windy and a constant 40 degrees, and did I mention rainy?
Now, this post has started a bit dreary - like I mentioned - we needed to adapt. Puddle splashing became one of our favorite activities, although some were the size of a small pond. Bike rides in the rain were a daily past time, and when the sun presented itself, we darted outside so fast, The Flash would have been proud. Hiking became more available as peeks of sunshine became more common, and hike we did (more about that in later posts).
The campground was nestled right below a couple of mountains who provided us gorgeous views of snowcapped peaks. Cascade RV Resort is a relatively new campground with great perks including large, artificial turf covered sites, paved roads/pads/drives for ease of mobility. Tom, the camp host, was very helpful and friendly, and we really formed a great community heading into the Spring/Summer months...
